1.Project Background
Shanghai Huijue is located in Qingcun, Fengxian District, Shanghai. The original carport was severely damaged by a typhoon and could no longer be used. The original parking area in front of the office building had 10 spaces, with an additional 9 spaces available for expansion on the adjacent green space.
In this context, a “solar + carport” project was planned, integrating photovoltaic (PV) panels with the carport structure. This setup not only retains the traditional functions of shading and rain protection but also generates solar power. Additionally, it reduces the temperature of vehicles parked beneath it while providing an eco-friendly energy solution. By making full use of the idle space above the carport, the project promotes energy efficiency while generating revenue—offering multiple benefits.
2.Costs and Benefits
Revenue Sources:
Solar Power Generation
Energy Storage for Peak Load Shifting
Total Annual Revenue from the Solar Carport: ¥80,000
Estimated Payback Period: Approximately 3 Years
3. Design Plan
The project includes installing 120 PV panels on the carport roof, with 2 inverters (capable of parallel operation) and 2 battery cabinets for energy storage. Additionally, 1–2 fast-charging DC charging stations and 2–4 slow-charging AC charging stations will be installed for electric vehicle charging. The generated solar power will primarily supply electricity for office building lighting and other daily operations.

4.Conclusion and Outlook
This project highlights the multiple advantages of solar carports in the application of green energy. It not only enhances the utilization of carport infrastructure but also provides a significant economic return for businesses. Given the lifespan of PV panels, this dual-benefit model supports the sustainable development of enterprises. Moreover, solar carport projects have broad application prospects in industrial parks, commercial areas, and public spaces. In the future, with continuous advancements in renewable energy technologies and increasing policy support, the expansion and implementation of similar projects are expected to accelerate, making a greater contribution to the green energy transition.
